Learn to Sail Optimists

Learn to Sail classes for juniors in club Optimists
The International Optimist Class is an ideal boat for teaching children the basics of sailing

 

Naval Point Club has 6 Plastic Optimist dinghies available for the purpose of teaching children.

The ‘Learn to Sail’ Course is run on a Saturday morning during the sailing season. The first course starts in October and a second course starts early February. Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.

The course content for beginners includes topics such as; Safety, Weather, Rigging an Optimist, First Sail, Sailing skills, Rope work, Basic Rules, Launching and Recovery, naming boat parts. The course follows the Yachting New Zealand Syllabus.

Dates:

16th October and 5th February for approx 8 weeks

Sailing Times:

Saturday 9-12 pm

Yachting NZ Qualified Instructors

NPCL opti’s provided.
