Learn to Sail Optimists
Naval Point Club has 6 Plastic Optimist dinghies available for the purpose of teaching children.
The ‘Learn to Sail’ Course is run on a Saturday morning during the sailing season. The first course starts in October and a second course starts early February. Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.
The course content for beginners includes topics such as; Safety, Weather, Rigging an Optimist, First Sail, Sailing skills, Rope work, Basic Rules, Launching and Recovery, naming boat parts. The course follows the Yachting New Zealand Syllabus.
