Dear member,

As COVID-19 continues to rapidly evolve management and the Board of NPCL have decided to take a proactive and leadership role in combatting its spread.

Therefore effective immediately all organised on-water activities between now and the end of the summer sailing season is cancelled.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Tonight's Oborn's Nautical Twilight
  • Club Racing until the end of the summer season
  • Open Skiff & Starling Canterbury Championships
  • All Learn to Sail and Coaching activities

Additionally all club organised social activities are cancelled up to the end of April.

A decision on the commencement date and duration of the Whisky Galore winter series will be made in due course.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, we know that this decision will affect the finances of the club, we also appreciate that for a number of members sailing is their recreation however we have a duty of care to our members, volunteers and staff to be proactive in our response to this unprecedented and rapidly evolving crisis. We also need to be mindful that viruses such as COVID-19 attack in the cooler months and whilst the incidents of COVID-19 in the northern hemisphere appear to be decreasing the risk profile in the southern hemisphere is on the increase.

As a small club we do not have the resources to be constantly cleaning public surfaces therefore the clubhouse (including toilets and showers) will be closed until further notice.

We will be continuing to run the administration of the club and the haulout yard on site; this will be reviewed as required.
