TROPHY LSIT

Naval Point Club Lyttelton has an extensive collection of trophies dating back to our predecessor clubs. In addition the Canterbury Trailer Yacht Squadron utilises NPCL races for the awarding of their trophies.

Presented by G.R. Oborn in 1971 for Opening Day Race. Handicap.

DAVEY TROPHY

Presented by Mr and Mrs W. Davey in 1970 for entire direct family crew. Handicap.

SEAMANSHIP TROPHY

Presented by the Andrews Family in 1972 for Seamanship Skills. Now decided by written description of a sailing feat, notable rescue, sportmanship

KAHU HORN

Presented by Athol Hutton in 1999. Veterans (over 60 years) with most points for a season. Handicap. Restricted Division.

HARRY CUP

Presented by Trevor Harris in 1975 for a handicap race. Skipper to be a regular crew member and have sailed on the boat at least three times during the current season.

PINT TO PINT

Presented by Trevor and Adrianne Shapland in 1973 for a race from Governors Bay Hotel to the Mitre Hotel Lyttelton – Handicap – (trophy now raced for by TY’s in a Pint to Pint as part of NPCL combined yachting event)

FRASER TROPHY

Presented by Mrs J. Fraser in 1967 for Lady Skippers. Handicap.

SINGLE HANDED TROPHY

Presented by DR N.K. Honey in 1970 for single-handed racing on handicap.

SHIPS WHEEL TROPHY

Presented by Ron Sparrow and Ramsey Gibson in 1967. This race is a Mark Foy start and sailed under the auspices of the Charteris Bay Yacht Club. No Spinnakers.

PENINSULA CUP

Presented in 1997 for Canterbury Show Day Race at a Peninsula Venue. Handicap.

JUNIOR SKIPPERS

Presented by Wally and Pat Burrough in 1966. Skippers to be family of NPCL members 16 years and under. Handicap.

MATARIKI BELL

Presented by Bob Wetherall for a race to Pigeon Bay. Handicap.

LAZY BONES TROPHY

Presented by Henry Zelas in 1982 for the first family crewed boat in the Pigeon Bay Race. Handicap.

MIDNIGHT TROPHY

Presented by Susanne and Peter Leeming, Ian Franklin and Ken Sibley in 1975 for Handicap Marathon Yacht Race.

PETER EVEREST MEMORIAL TROPHY

Presented by the CTYS Committee in 1998 in memory of Peter Everest who passed away 23rd October1997. Presented for annual race to New Brighton Pier. Handicap.

CURRY PLATE

Presented by Bruce and Wisha Curry for His n Hers Two Handed, Male/Female crews. Handicap.

ROSS PATERSON TROPHY

Presented by Bill and Maude Paterson in memory of their son Ross who was drowned at sea in 1968. Closing day race. Handicap.

THE ROSS ISLAND OF ANTARCTICA PENNANT

Donated by Andy Cole to encourage adventurous family boating. Awarded to the CTYS member who takes his boat to the most Southern latitude greater than 45 degrees South whether racing or cruising.
